Melissa Barrett is the founder of M. Barrett Law, LLC. She graduated from Ball State University with degrees in Criminal Justice and Psychology and later earned her Juris Doctor from Atlanta’s John Marshall Law School.
Melissa's background in psychology and criminal justice provides a unique perspective on conflict resolution, negotiation, and litigation strategy. She approaches each matter with a practical understanding that legal disputes are often about more than just the law—they involve families, businesses, finances, and futures.
Since founding M. Barrett Law, Melissa has built a practice focused on resolving complex disputes involving estates, fiduciary relationships, property rights, and business interests. She represents individuals, families, fiduciaries, and businesses throughout Georgia in probate and estate matters, guardianships and conservatorships, fiduciary disputes, property and title litigation, business disputes, contract litigation, and related civil matters.
Melissa is admitted to practice in all Georgia Superior, State, and Magistrate Courts, as well as the United States District Courts for the Northern and Middle Districts of Georgia, and the Georgia Court of Appeals. She currently serves as Vice President of the Fayette County Bar Association and remains actively involved in the Georgia legal community.
During law school, Melissa's family experienced a life-altering event when her stepdaughter was seriously injured in a catastrophic automobile accident. Through that experience, she worked closely with attorneys handling a complex personal injury case against a major automobile manufacturer and gained firsthand insight into the profound impact legal representation can have during life's most difficult moments.
That experience reinforced a principle that continues to guide her practice today: clients deserve an attorney who is not only knowledgeable and strategic, but also accessible, responsive, and genuinely invested in protecting their interests. Melissa strives to provide practical advice, direct communication, and effective advocacy tailored to each client's unique circumstances and goals.
